There is only so much money to go around, and a dollar more in benefits for teachers is a dollar less for police. Each public employee union jusifies itelf to its members by outdoing not only the municipality against which it bargains for benefits, but also the other unions against whitch it competes for benefits. Cutailing the process means curtailing union power.

Council approves senior center dollars
The City Council approved a measure to authorizes the City Treasurer to borrow $4.2 million dollars in order to facilitate the construction and furnishing of one or more municipal buildings.
The funds are intended for the design and contrucion of the Senior Center and as the City Treasurer Frank Vacca explained during a finance commitee meeting preceding the council session, the allocation of funds d1spite the wording of the measure are only for one building
