I feel he has a lot "on the plate "in plans to bring Malden Downtown into the 21st century. SUDDENLY, everyone is concerned about the cost of health insurance.
Massachusetts municipalities are raising taxes, cutting services, and even contemplating bankruptcy because of the cost of employees' coverage. The Commonwealth's financial reports must soon reflect a $13 billion item for retiree health benefits, hitherto left off the books. Nonprofit agencies are realizing that the new health insurance mandate applies to their employees, too. The state's Health Care Connector Board is struggling to devise an "affordable" health plan, in the face of protests about cost from future customers
The tenants and their Advocates (Mass Senior Action and Tri Cap)are over matched when dealing with the consultants to the management of Heritage Apartments (Peabody Properties, Inc) They are in need of all the help they can get from their elected representatives both Local and State to force the Federal representatives to take action to protect the interest of Malden Citizens.
I would ask the tenants and all interested parties familiar with the actions of the Board of Directors and the mismanagement the Heritage department to consider action by HUD against a bad Landlord. I would ask the Mayor to get up a Home Rule Partition and get involved in the Senior Housing crisis in Malden
